Converging/Diverging Worlds:
Culture in the 21st Century

Fifth Annual Southern Region Postgraduate Seminar

October 6-7, 2000

Charles Sturt University
Wagga Wagga

Call for papers

Proposals for 30 minute papers are invited from postgraduates in various disciplines (including art history and theory, creative writing, critical theory, cultural studies, English, screen studies, fine arts, gender studies, history, media, multimedia, performance studies, politics, philosophy, etc).

The theme of the seminar Converging/Diverging Worlds invites diverse interpretations. It encompasses issues such as globalisation, inter-disciplinarity, tribalism, hybridisation and fragmentation all notions which at different levels have been used to characterise the culture of the present.

It is anticipated that the theme will make for a major strand of dialogue at the seminar; but proposals for papers on other issues are also welcome.

Abstracts of 200 words can be posted, faxed or emailed by 11 September to:
