SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR: 50 Years of the Second Sex

The conference will be hosted by the Centre for Women, Ideology and Culture Research, Department of English, The University of Queensland.

This two day conference is being held at the State Library of Queensland to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex.

The conference program will include papers, discussion panels, documentary screenings, and an evening event to celebrate the life and work of Simone de Beauvoir.

Presentations may be discussions of The Second Sex or general papers relating to de Beauvoir's influence on second wave feminism. Format can be either 15min or 30 min.

Deadline for papers is Friday 13th August, 1999.
